Born in Italy in 1984, Giulio Rimondi is graduated in “literature and history of art” at the University of Bologna (Italy), prestigious for human studies. He did classical studies since college. He started his photographic carreer in 2006 with David Alan Harvey (Magnum) shooting in Sicily at the pictoresque Easter Processions. He then moved to New York to take part at Harvey’s prestigious workshop located at his loft in Williamsburg. In that occasion Giulio composed the series “Scene 22”, exposed in Rome in March 2007 (Galleria Ferro di Cavallo) and Paris, in January 2008 (Galèrie Chambre avec Vues).

Rimondi’s current long-term project “Mediterraneum” is a pursuit for mediterranean cultural identity in the land of the origin of our civilization. The focus is on the uniqueness of mediterranean culture, historically divided by political and religious borders as well as ethnic and social differences but which is derived from a common root. At the center: men and women of ancient memory “born of the same light” (A. Camus).

From June 2009 Giulio will be a represented artist by galleries in Paris, New York, Buenos Aires. He exposed his work in personal and collective exibits, as well as in international art fairs like Arte Fiera in his own city, Bologna.

Beyond his partnership with galleries, Giulio is a contributor for  “Le Monde” (France), “la Repubblica” (Italy) and “il Manifesto” (Italy), for which he composed reportages in West Africa and Middle-East.

He’s traveled since the age of 16 and has spent the last years moving through many countries in Europe, Africa, Middle-East and South America.
